FRED CALHOUN

Fred Calhoun

Fred Calhoun, 93, of Bushnell, died at 3:35 p.m. Friday, Mar. 26, 1993, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born Apr. 28, 1899, near Ipava, a son of Samuel and Minnie Black Calhoun. He married Fern Orwig on Dec. 17, 1921, in Prairie City. She survives, living in Macomb.

Also surviving are two sons, Howard Wayne of Galesburg and Frederick Ron of Macomb; one daughter, Virginia Fern Calhoun of Jacksonville; two brothers, Glenn of Galesburg and Raymond of Bushnell; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

One son, Charles Russell, and one brother preceded him in death.

A member of McDonough County Farm Bureau, he farmed near Prairie City for many years before retiring and moving to Bushnell in 1975. He was a member of Prairie City Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services were held Monday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home with Rev. John Duling officiating. Burial was in Prairie City Cemetery.
