VeteranRussell Carson Of Rushville Dies

Russell Carson, 83, of Rushville, died at 10:22 a.m. Sunday, April 22, 1990, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born Oct. 5, 1906, in Colchester, a son of Joseph and Caroline Lind Carson. He married Bernice Hoyle on July 27, 1930, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, James R. of Dunlap and Jerry L. of Chicago; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

He worked for FS Services for 38 years, retiring as general manager of Schuyler-Brown FS in 1971. He then was farm manager for Schuyler Farm Bureau, retiring in 1982.

A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of Schuyler American Legion Post 4. He was a 50-year member of Colchester Lodge 496, AF&AM and a member of Quincy Consistory AASR.

He also was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rushville and the Booster Sunday School Class. He was past president of the Rushville Rotary Club and Rushville Community Chest.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. this morning at his church with Rev. Roy Adams and Rev. Marshall Ervin officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb. Masonic services were held Tuesday evening at Worthington Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to his church or Culbertson Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Carson was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and worked 32 years for Farm Services, retiring as general manager of the Schuyler-Brown FS in 1971. He worked as a Farm Manager for Schuyler Farm Bureau retiring in 1982. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rushville, the Booster Sunday School Class, a 50-year member of Colchester Lodge 496 AF&AM, a member of Quincy Consistory A.A.S.R., and a member of Schuyler Post 4 American Legion. He was past president of the Rushville Rotary Club and past president of the Rushville Community Chest.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. this morning at the First United Methodist Church in Rushville with Roy Adams and Rev. Marshall Ervin officiating. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb.

Masonic services were held at Worthington Funeral Home at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.
