Ralph V. Cordell Sr., 93, of Industry, died at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 1980, at the Americana Healthcare Center in Macomb.
Mr. Cordell was born Apr. 8, 1886, in Schuyler County, the son of Thomas and Alice Vail Cordell.
He married Grace Howell on Aug. 14, 1916, in Monmouth. She died Feb. 15, 1975.
He had resided in McDonough and Fulton Counties most of his life. He graduated from Western State College in 1907. He taught school in Farmington, Canton and Lewistown and was superintendent of schools in Fulton County for 25 years, retiring in 1959. He was a member of the Lewistown Presbyterian Church and Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are one son, Ralph V. Jr. of Industry; one daughter, Mrs. Harriett Sunderland of San Francisco, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Howell; two brothers, Ebenezer and Raymond; and two sisters, Tallie Gingerich and Ruth in infancy.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with Rev. Claude Curry officiating.
