J. Ray (Pat) Colwell, 69, of 1719 W. Main St., Galesburg, died Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the Cottage Hospital in Galesburg. He was a farm hand until his retirement in 1964.
Mr. Colwell was born April 9, 1900 in Ipava, a son of John and Anna Lawver Colwell. He later had lived at Canton and Fairview vicinity. The last seven years he lived in Galesburg.
He married Gertie M. Hitz on July 6, 1925. She survives along with three sons, Fred Colwell of Oneida, Carl and Leroy, both of Abingdon; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Bowton, of Galesburg and Mrs. Margaret Green of Oquawka; a foster sister, Mrs. Emmett Lafary of Astoria; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at 3:30 p.m. in Hinchcliff-Pearson West Chapel, and burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery in Galesburg.
