Sidney Combs, 77, Of Macomb, Dies

Sidney Combs, 77, owner and operator of Combs Apartments at 223 E. Carroll St., Macomb, died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Phelps Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past two years. Death was attributed to a heart condition.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen chapel. Rev. Richard Newball, officiated, and interment was in the Astoria Mausoleum.

He was born April 1, 1883, at Grenola, Kansas, a son of Charles and Mary Markley Combs. He resided in the Astoria and Prairie City communities during his early life and was active in farming. He moved to Macomb in 1943.

On Nov. 26, 1914, he married Maude Hess, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Verle Combs of Prairie City, Willis Combs of Jacksonville and Ralph Combs of Rockford; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Gruber of Astoria, and 10 grandchildren.
