TERRY COOK

Infant Killed; Aged Man Seriously Injured

An infant was killed Sunday evening at 8:30 in a truck-automobile collision on route 78, north of Canton.

The victim was Terry Cook, 1, son of Lloyd and Thelma Belle Cook, of Sterling, Ill.

Police said the Cook auto collided with a truck driven by Joseph Hill, 28, of Omaha, Neb.

Deputy Sheriff Henry Picton said the truck had been stolen earlier from the Midland Electric Coal company, at nearby Middle Grove. Hill is under guard at the Graham hospital, Canton, without charge.

Deputy Sheriff Picton said proceeds of a burglary committed in the house of Mrs. R. V. Ragsdale of Farmington Saturday night were found in Hill’s possession. Miss Maxine O’Neil, a school teacher who lives with Mrs. Ragsdale, identified a jewel case found in the truck as burglary loot.

Hill, who is said to be a carnival worker, had seven $20 bills in his pocket. He said he won them at poker. Seven $20 bills were taken in the burglary.
