Dorcas Camp Passes Away

Dies At Her Home In Beardstown; Born In Woodland Township

Mrs. Dorcas Camp died at her home in Beardstown Sunday, aged 88 years, 11 months and 9 days. She was the last of a family of eight children. She had been an invalid since breaking her right leg in a fall in August, 1939.

Dorcas Helen Beaty was born in Woodland township January 6, 1852, the daughter of Robert and Fanny Beaty. She was married to Isaac L. Camp on February 16, 1870. He died forty years ago. To this union was born six children, Joseph F., deceased, George W. of Adair, Rollo A., of Lincoln, Ruth, at home, Mrs. Maud Hartley, Toulon, and Maurice E. of Astoria. Also surviving are four stepchildren, Arnold D. Camp of Low Point, Will J., of Jerseyville, Charles E., of Woodland township and Mrs. Mabel Young of Good Hope. Besides the above children, she leaves to mourn her passing, fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Early in life Mrs. Camp united with the Christian church at Summum, where she has always kept her membership. Her gentle disposition won for her a great host of friends, and to know her was to love her.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Christian church in Astoria, Rev. L. A. Crown of Mackinaw, officiating. Burial in Astoria cemetery.
