George Cox

VERMONT — George Cox was born Feb. 22, 1843, in Ohio. Died at his home in Vermont, Ill., Nov. 25, 1920 at the age of 77 years, 9 months and three days. In childhood he came with his parents to Illinois where the family settled in Fulton county, near Vermont. Here he grew to manhood and has spent all his life in Vermont and vicinity. He was married to Nancy Crago, Jan. 24, 1867. To them were born four children, Granville, Maud, Edna and an infant. All these have preceded him in death except Edna. His wife passed away in 1916. In 1902 Mr. Cox moved to Vermont where he has since resided. He was a man highly respected for his upright and industrious character and sterling principles of life. He was a member of Vermont Lodge No. 116, A.F. & A.M., being the oldest member of this lodge, having joined the Order in 1868. Those who survive him are: one daughter, Mrs. Edna Wardell of Vermont and one granddaughter, Miss Margaret Wardell. He also leaves three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Louisa Cassidy of Macomb, Mrs. Elizabeth Bottenberg, of Green City, Mo., Mrs. Pricilla Warner of Table Grove and Will Cox, living near Vermont. Funeral services were held at the home, conducted by Fred Wilson and burial services in the Vermont cemetery, conducted by the Masonic Order.
