ELEANOR (ROOSA) SKELLEY WARD HENDRICK CHAMBERS

Buried Here.

The remains of Mrs. Eleanor Chambers, who died Friday at the home of her son, William Ward, of Bluffs, was brought here Sunday for interment. Burial took place in the Astoria cemetery.

The deceased at one time was a resident of Astoria. She was past 85 years of age and was an aunt of Douglas and A. B. Roosa.

Mrs. Chambers was married four times, two of her husbands met death by drowning.

The body was taken direct to the cemetery from the train.

Short funeral services were held at the grave, Rev. Ella Niswonger conducting them.

[Laura's note: According to my preliminary research, I believe I have the four married names correct, but am not 100% sure on the order of the last two. There are marriage records for an "Eleanor Chambers" marrying Edwin Hendrick in 1864, but later census records and her obituary are listed under the Chambers name so I don't know if she took that name back - or never took the Hendrick name in the first place. More research would be needed to clarify.]
