SIMEON LEWIS CARTER

Brother Dead.

R. G. Carter, of this city, received word that his brother Simeon Carter died at his home at Friend, Neb., October 19th. Mr. Carter was at one time a resident of Astoria, having come from Kentucky. He left here and went to McDonough county, where he remained until 1877 and from there went to Kansas, where he has lived until his death, aged 86 years. He is survived by seven children and a host of relatives. He served one year in the Mexican War.
