HARRIETT (LONGSTREET) CAMPBELL

Harriett Campbell

Harriett Longstreet was born in Washington Co., Pennsylvania, July 2, 1815. Died at the home of her son James Campbell near Browning, Ill., May 11th, 1903, having reached the ripe old age of 87 years, 10 months and 2 days.

She was married to Lloyd Campbell, of Brook Co. West Virginia, May 2nd, 1831. To this union were born thirteen children, 4 daughters and 9 sons, of whom 8 have preceded the mother to the grave.

The deceased was christened by sprinkling in the Methodist church in infancy. United with the Christian church of Browning, and was baptized by immersion by the hands of Elder Butler 1857, where she has held her membership ever since.

The later years of her life were spent at the home of her son James, who with loving hands administered to her wants and tenderly cared for her during the afflictions which were brought to an end by that fearless reaper, and her sainted spirit was born away by more tender hands to an eternal home where partings are unknown.

The funeral services were conducted at the home of her son James Campbell, by Rev. O. D. Ross, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, and the remains were tenderly laid to rest in the cemetery near Baders.
