MERRIAM CRAIG

Killed by Live Wire.

Merriam Craig, a line man working for the Home Telephone company, of Champaign, was instantly killed Monday afternoon of last week. He had climbed a pole to assist in stringing a cable. Just as he took hold of it his foot caught under an electric light wire, from which the insulation had been torn and the shock threw him to the pavement. His left foot was burned to the bone at one spot and his left hand was also badly burned. It is understood a 1,100 volt current passed throught his body and the belief is that he was dead before he struck the ground. The deceased leaves a wife and little daughter at Alma, Ill. — McLean Co., Democrat.
