Robert E. “Doc” Buck, 96, of Canton died Nov. 29, 2024, at the Clayberg Nursing Center in Cuba.
He was born Aug. 5, 1928, in London Mills, the son of Ernest and Amy Smith Buck. They preceded him in death.
He also was preceded in death by one sister, Alberta Schafer; and one special friend, Rose Foss.
Surviving are five children, Bob (and Debbie) Buck of Vermont, Jim (and Debra) Buck of Maquon, Bill (and Terisa) Buck of Seville, Joanne (and Scott) Rupe of Canton and Penny Buck of Macomb; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Shirley Graham.
He worked at Gale products in Galesburg for 17 years making Lawn Boy lawn mowers. He is a member of the Methodist Church in London Mills, VFW and American Legion and the Farmington Moose. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He served in the Korean War. He was honored to be part of the Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
A funeral service will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow the services at West Midway Cemetery in London Mills.
