She was born March 11, 1928, in Havana, a daughter of George and Edith Hagie Watson. She married Leroy Burgett. He preceded her in death in 1992.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Neil Burgett; two brothers, Danny and Deanie; and five sisters, Edith, June, Vivian, Barbara Jean and Wanda.
Surviving are one daughter, Gloria Shaffer of Canton; one sister, Carolyn Rector; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Summum Christian Church. She was a gifted painter, she painted every day since the 1970s, and enjoyed selling her art on the Spoon River Scenic Drive.
A funeral service was held Monday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Burial was at Waterford Cemetery.
