He was born June 11, 1932, in Astoria, a son of Lyle D. and Greeta L. Horner Butler.
Surviving are four children, Melanie McCloskey of Manito, Lisa Jackson of North Carolina, Lyle D. Butler Jr. of Florida and Brad Denney of Canton; one brother, Rodney Butler; one sister, Virginia McCausland; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Smith Butler in 2014; and one son, Kirk Denney.
He retired from International Harvester, he then worked for General Dynamics, and later worked at Lockhead Martin.
Cremation rite will be accorded. Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.
