Florence BottorffFlorence Agnes Bottorff, 93, of Rushville died at 11:30 p.m. May 16, 2017, at her home.

She was born July 21, 1923, in Missouri Township, Brown County, a daughter of George Garfield and Minnie Agnes McClelland Roberts. She married Jack Nelson Bottorff on Oct. 10, 1944, in Mount Sterling. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1998.

She also was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Noah Hicks; two brothers, Leon Roberts and Melvin Roberts; and three sisters, Maxine Wallace, Mary Roberts and Norma Wittner.

Surviving are one daughter, Barbara (and Richard) Huntley of Loraine; two sons, Robert N. Bottorff and Steven E. (and Brenda) Bottorff, both of Rushville; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She attended the one-room school, Sunny Hill, in Missouri Township, Brown County. In 1941, she graduated from Brown County High School. She later graduated from Blessing School of Nursing in 1945.

She was a Registered Nurse and first worked at Culbertson Hospital. She later worked for Dr. Russell Dohner from 1957 until he retired in October of 2013.

She was a member of Rushville First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Morning Miriam’s Circle. She was a scout leader for her boys when they were growing up.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at her church with Rev. Grant Armstrong officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
