Mary BusbyMary Emma Bartlow Busby, 102, of Rushville died at 12 p.m. April 21, 2014, at Heritage Nursing Home in Beardstown.

She was born Sept. 27, 1911, in Ottawa County near Miami, Okla., the daughter of Harley R. and Lena Black Bartlow. She married Harry L. Wilson on May 23, 1936, in Astoria. He passed away on May 20, 1969, in Canton. She later married Paul Busby on Oct. 6, 1979, in Canton. He passed away on Jan. 29, 1995.

She also was preceded in death by five brothers, James, Delbert, Harold, Harlin and Raymond Bartlow.

Surviving are one sister-in-law, Mary Lou (Harlin) Bartlow; nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1928. In 1963, she graduated from Western Illinois University with a bachelor of science degree in education as an honor student. She later obtained a master of science in education of intermediate grades and reading on June 1, 1968. She worked as a teacher and educator for 31 years. For 17 years she taught in the rural schools of Schuyler and Fulton counties. The next 14 years were spent in the Canton school system where she retired in 1977.

She was a member of Rushville Free Methodist Church.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
