Minnie BartlowMinnie Lucille Bartlow, 99, of Rushville died Jan. 26, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born June 18, 1914, in Fulton County, a daughter of Frank and Rosa Fisk Kingery. She married James H. Bartlow on Jan. 1, 1938, in Rushville. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2006.

She also was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Butler.

Surviving are her daughters, Sandra Bartlow of Valley Center, Calif., Mary Jo Bartlow of Belleville and Jane Rice of Downers Grove.

She graduated from Astoria High School in 1931 and graduated from the teaching program at Western Illinois University.

She was a teacher and taught at Cooper School for two years, Haines School for four years, Christian Neck School for two years, Beattie School for one year and Lincoln School in Beardstown for 11 years. She was a dedicated teacher for over 20 years. The first four schools where she taught were one-room schoolhouses in Fulton and Schuyler counties.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rushville.

Services were held Thursday at Rushville First United Methodist Church with Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
