He was born March 6, 1937, in Kewanee, the son of Everett G. and Edith Darrah Burns.
Surviving are one niece, Ann (and Neal) Herche Benowitz of Savannah, Ga.; two nephews, Robert (and Linda) Herche of Rushville and Roger (and Diane) Herche of Springfield; one great-niece; one great-nephew; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Beverly (and Cecil) Herche.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rushville.
He worked for City of Rushville 33 1/2 years, retiring in 2000.
He was active in local bowling leagues.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rushville City Cemetery with Rev. Larry DeSha officiating. Inurnment will follow. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville.
