Catilda "Tillie" BerardinoCatilda Maria Magdalena Calameni "Tillie" Berardino, 100, of Rushville died at 6:08 p.m. May 29, 2013, at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

She was born June 20, 1912, in Sanfili, Italy, the daughter of Louis and Josephine Iusi Calameni. She married Thomas Berardino on April 15, 1934. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1986.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, Vincent Calameni; and one great-great-grandson, Jeremy.

Surviving are one daughter, Carole (and Gerald) McClelland of Rushville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was age 9 when she came to America on a ship, The Gonamich. It took three weeks to get here. Once in America, she moved to Chicago where she met her husband.

She worked for her father, who owned a franchise of Salenio Biscuits.

She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church of Rushville.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday at St. Rose Catholic Church in Rushville with Monsignor Brian Rejsek officiating. Entombment will be held Wednesday at Queen of All Saints Mausoleum, Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

Memorials may be made to St. Rose Catholic Church.
