He was born May 22, 1929, in Buena Vista Township, Schuyler County, a son of Elsie and Beulah Gray Brooks. He married Gloria June Palmer on Nov. 27, 1949, in Rushville. She preceded him in death on June 8, 2001.
He also was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Brooks.
Surviving are two daughters, Jane (and Larry) Martin of Versailles and Penny (and Bruce) Lovekamp of Arenzville; and three grandchildren.
He was a lifelong mechanic working for Strong Equipment, Tribbey Equipment and Green Motors, all in Rushville. He was supervisor of the bus garage for Schuyler School District Unit #1 until retiring on May 31, 1991.
He was a member of Rushville First United Methodist Church, Rushville Moose Lodge #506 and Late Knight Cruiser’s Car Club.
Services were held Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Steve Pichaske officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
