Elaine BaderElaine Bader, 92, of Browning died at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 23, 2010, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born March 22, 1918, in Browning, a daughter of Verne and Bernice Irene Dodd Bryant. She married Howard Bader. He died on Jan. 1, 1980.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald “Pete” Bryant, Dodd Bryant and Hunter Bryant; and one sister, Mary Bryant Webster.

Surviving are one son, Verne “Tinker” (and Cathy) Bader of Meredosia; one daughter, Mary Elaine Bader of Browning; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She earned a bachelors degree from Illinois State University and a masters degree from Western Illinois University.

She was the Browning Post mistress and was a business teacher at Metamora High School, Arenzville High School and Rushville High School, until retiring in 1988.

She was a member of Browning United Methodist Church, Astoria Rebekah Lodge, Schuyler-Brown Retired Teachers Association, Order of the Eastern Star and Rushville B & PW Club.

Services were held Monday at her church with Rev. Bob Einhouse and Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial was in Bader Cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
