Neil J. Bergstralh, 58, of Canton died at 10:25 a.m. Oct. 20, 2009, at his residence.
He was born on Oct. 1, 1951, in Rockford, a son of Eric Donald and Connie Babin Bergstralh. He married Martha Leezer on Dec. 20, 1970, in Canton. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Douglas (and Patty) Bergstralh and Michael (and Sandra) Bergstralh, both of Canton and Jeffrey Bergstralh of Chenoa; two sisters, JoAnne (and Richard) Gayne of Lake Worth, Fla., and Sue (and Milt) Stuber of Bartonville; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Bergstralh.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Vietnam era.
He enjoyed his work as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service since 1986. He had formerly worked for Caterpillar in East Peoria.
He coached Canton Little League.
Services were held Saturday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Ralph Hill officiating. Burial was with military honors at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
