Charles Bernard

Charles BernardCharles E. Bernard, 51, of Galesburg died at 11 a.m. July 18, 2009, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Dec. 8, 1957, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Maurice H. and Dorothy E. Clark Bernard.

Surviving are one son, Lucas Bernard of Burlington, Iowa; one stepson, Zachary D. Kinne of Burlington, Iowa; two daughters, Kaytlyn M. Bernard of Burlington, Iowa, and Felicity E. Bernard of Galesburg; three sisters, Roberta Clark of Wisconsin, Maria (and Tony) Howard of Galesburg and Georgianna (and Raymond) Crenshaw of Browning; one special friend, Christen R. Akers of Galesburg; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He worked at Vermont Foundry and was a brick layer.

He volunteered for environmental projects for the local Jaycees.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bader Cemetery with Gary Sheets officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
