Fred BeadlesFred E. Beadles, 84, of Canton died at 1:09 p.m. May 12, 2009, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Canton.

He was born Oct. 13, 1924, in Summum, a son of John R. and Mary C. Coney Beadles. He married Geneda Welker on June 21, 1957, in Jacksonville. She died June 26, 1984.

He also was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, one great-grandchild, one brother and three sisters.

Surviving are five stepdaughters, Marilyn (and Clinton) Waller of Lewistown, Harriet (and Richard) Baldwin of Smithfield, Joyce Gibson of Fountain Valley, Calif., Donna Chapman of Dunfermline and Bonnie (and Roy) Jones of Rushville; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

He was a World War II Navy veteran, and was a former VFW member and Canton Moose member.

He retired from Caterpillar Mossville plant where he had worked as an inspector.

Services were held Friday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rev. Danie deBeer officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with military rites conducted by Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and American Legion Bishop Post 1.
