Anadel BedenbenderAnadel Hall Bedenbender, 95, of Rushville died at 5 p.m. May 5, 2009, at Culbertson Long Term Care Facility in Rushville.

She was born Aug. 30, 1913, in Rushville Township, Schuyler County, Ill., the daughter of Roy and Annie Dell Nall Hall. She married Leslie Bedenbender on May 20, 1938, in Jerseyville. He died Sept. 7, 1996.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, James Roy “Jim” Hall.

Surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She graduated from Rushville High School, received a bachelor of science degree in education in 1951 and a masters degree in English, guidance and counseling in 1957 from Western Illinois University.

She worked in education for 39 years; from 1933 to 1945, she taught in elementary schools of Schuyler County; 1945 to 1958, she served as assistant Schuyler County Superintendent of Schools; and then taught junior English and did counseling in Rushville High School, retiring in 1973.

For several years she was secretary of Mississippi Valley Chapter of Ill. Education Association, former member of Lambda State-Ill., Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and for a time was the recording secretary of that organization. She served on Rushville Public Library Board for several years.

She was a life member of the Ill. Retired Teachers’ Association, Rushville First Christian Church “Disciples of Christ,” BE-KIK-A-NIN-EE Chapter NSDAR, Schuyler Jail Museum and Genealogical Center, Schuy-Rush Chapter of Ill. Audubon Society, Scripps Park Ladies Golf League and Culbertson Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.

Services were held Monday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. John Sowers officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
