Marion BonserMarion Thomas “Speed” Bonser, 83, of Rushville died at 7:40 a.m. Nov. 21, 2007, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Bainbridge Township, Schuyler County, a son of Roy and Bessie Mae Illman Bonser. He married Vergene Morris on Feb. 23, 1956, in Rushville. She died Sept. 9, 2003.

He also was preceded in death by one stepson, Gary David; and three brothers, George Henry, Harold and Russell.

Surviving are one daughter, Sue (and Barry) Settles of Rushville; one son, Steve Bonser (and companion Lydia Bonser) of Rushville; one stepdaughter, Kay Fair of West Virginia; one brother, Rev. Wayne (and Lily) Bonser of Rushville; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a lifelong farmer and a member of Schuyler American Legion Post #4.

Cremation has been accorded. Services were held Tuesday at Rushville City Cemetery with Rev. Rose Ross officiating. Military services were conducted by his legion post and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
