Marian BighamMarian Caroline Bigham, 85, of Rushville died at 9:15 p.m. Oct. 14, 2007, at her home.

She was born Feb. 8, 1922, in New Orleans, La., a daughter of George Delbert and Myra Park French. She married Robert W. “Bill” Bigham on Jan. 31, 1941, in Hawk Point, Mo. He died May 1, 1978.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, George and William; one sister, Frances McKown; and one grandchild.

Surviving are three sons, Terrence (and Lois) Bigham of Macomb, Robert William (and Merilea) Bigham of Lake City, Fla., and George Tom (and Cyndi) Bigham of Rushville; two daughters, Barbara (and Benny) Rittenhouse of Rushville and Bette Workman of Gainesville, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

She attended Gulf Park College finishing school in Long Beach, Miss., in 1938-39. She graduated from Rushville High School in 1940.

She was a cook at Hills Nursing Home and a homemaker.

She was a member and past president of American Legion Post #4 Auxiliary and a Gold Star sister.

Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Mary Arnold officiating. Inurnment will be in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
