Theresa Bavery

Theresa Elaine Bavery, 56, of Lewistown, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born Aug. 26, 1949, in Keokuk, Iowa, a daughter of Eugene and Anabel Heisler Bavery.

Surviving are her parents of Lewistown; two brothers, Charles of Jacksonville and Jeffrey of Astoria; and two sisters, Susan (and Steven) Hardin of Jacksonville and Mary Jo (and David) Kumer of Lake St. Louis, Mo.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert.

She graduated from Lewistown Community High School in 1967 and was class treasurer. She later graduated from Midstate Business College in Peoria.

She worked as a ward clerk at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria before returning to Lewistown to run Montgomery Ward Catalog Store. She also helped her parents at their restaurant.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she served on the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Lewistown American Legion Auxiliary Bishop Post 1, the 40 & 8 and Lewistown Alumni Association. She was a former member of the Lewistown Library Board.

Services were held Saturday at her church with Monsignor Robert O'Connor officiating. Graveside services were Saturday at Calvary Cemetery in Carthage.
