Peggy Velma I. Berry, 85, of Peoria and former long-time resident of Neponset died at 5:20 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at Rose Garden Care Center in Peoria.
She was born Jan. 21, 1918, in Kewanee, a daughter of Ernest and Anna Lee Mathews Pardue. She married Alden Berry. He died in 1971.
Also preceding her in death were a sister, Louella McCollum; a grandson; and a daughter-in-law.
Surviving is a daughter, Allison (and Jiri) Myska of San Diego, Calif.; three sons, Sam (and Donna) of Astoria, John (and Carla) of Pekin, and Dave (and Janice) of Tucson, Ariz; two sisters, Leola Gunning of Springfield, and Shirley Schmidt of Chehalis, Wash.; and nine grandchildren.
She graduated from Wethersfield High School and later beauty school.
She was a member of the Neponset United Methodist Church.
Services were held Tuesday at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home in Kewanee with Rev. Delores DeArmond of the Neponset United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Floral Hill Cemetery in Neponset.
