Thomas R. "Ralph" Berry, 72, of Lewistown died at 1:41 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Graham Hospital Extended Care in Canton.

He was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Lewistown, a son of Elzie R. Sr. and Emma Nelson Berry. He married Dixie White on Oct. 12, 1951, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Tom (and Gail) of Lewistown; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray (and Ruth) of Lewistown; and four stepsisters, Dorothy Ccombs of Youngtown, Ariz., Maurine Derry of Havana, Aileen Brandon of LaHarpe and Helen Richardson of Browning.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Rhonda Berry, in 1973; two brothers; one stepbrother; and one stepsister.

A Korean War Army veteran, he was a life member of Lewistown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5001 and a member of American Legion Post 1 in Lewistown.

A coal miner, he last worked at Wabash Coal Mine in Mount Carmel, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.

He attended Lewistown United Methodist Church.

Services were held Tuesday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rev. Terry Westerfield officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, with military rites conducted by his VFW and American Legion posts.

Memorials may be made to Lewistown United Methodist Church or Lewistown Rescue Squad.
