MILDRED M. (HARRIS) BROWN

Mildred Brown

Mildred M. Brown, 97, of Prairie City, formerly of Bushnell, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at Prairie City Nursing Center.

She was born March 22, 1903, in Vermont, a daughter of John and Anna Brown Harris. She married Hulet F. "Hootie" Brown on July 26, 1930, in Hamilton. He died Nov. 30, 1987.

Two sisters and one brother also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one foster daughter, Lori Voss of Bushnell; three nephews, including Merle Brown of Table Grove; and five nieces, including Joan Loring and Maxine Gaag, both of Macomb, Marie Schisler of Table Grove and Barbara Lagier of Petersburg; and two foster grandchildren.

She attended Western Illinois State Teachers College in Macomb and taught at rural Bailey School near Table Grove for several years.

She also had worked at Bushnell Public Library for several years.

She was a member of Bushnell United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.

She was a former member of Bushnell Business and Professional Women's Club.

Services were held Tuesday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home with Rev. Martha Scaff officiating. Burial was in Bushnell Cemetery.
