Clifton Butler, 89, of Salome, Ariz., died Thursday, July 2, 1998, at his home.
He was born Aug. 27, 1908, in Marbletown, the youngest child of Thomas and Mary Doyle Butler. He married Christine Rockwell of Astoria. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Surviving are two children, Jeanette Anderson and James Butler, both of California; one sister-in-law, Greeta Butler of Astoria; and several nieces and nephews in Illinois and California.
He taught school in the Astoria and Enion areas, later moving to Burlington, Iowa. In 1976, he moved to Woodland Hills, Calif., where he became a master brick mason.
