Loren Willie Briggs, 53, of rural Rushville, died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at his home.

He was born May 21, 1945, in Huntsville, a son of Loren Eddie and Kathryn Lee Overfelt Briggs. He married Marcia Ann Danner on April 25, 1986, in Bushnell. She survives.

Also surviving are five sons, Troy Lee Briggs of Decatur, Scott Keithley of Stowe, Ohio, Martin Keithley of Prairie City, James Keithley of Bushnell and David Keithley of LaHarpe; five daughters, Mrs. Dale (Launa) Singleton of Prairie City, Mrs. Kenny (Tina) Tatum of Bloomington, Mrs. Mark (Wendy) Wiltermood of Camden, and Dawniele Keithley and Jennifer Danner, both of Rushville; 13 grandchildren; one brother, Charlie Alfred Briggs of Baylis; and four sisters, Mrs. Roy (Nancy) Lung of Mt. Sterling, Mrs. Larry (Delores) Drennan of Rushville, Mrs. Ken (Alice) Johnson of Camden and Mrs. Kevin (Cathy) Connell of Burlington, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver for Star Transport in Morton. He was a member of the Astoria American Legion.

Services were held Saturday at Kost Memorial Home in Vermont with Rev. Roger Simpson officiating. Burial was in Palm Cemetery in Schuyler County, where military rites were accorded by the Astoria American Legion.

Memorials may be made to the Jennifer Danner Education Fund at First Federal Bank, Bushnell, or the Schuyler County Hospice Program.
