Harold P. Beets, 87, of Elmwood, died at 1:56 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born July 24, 1910, in Buckhart Township near Canton, a son of Elisha and Mary Woods Beets. He married Laura Fern Peters on Dec. 9, 1933, in Peoria. She died June 11, 1994. He also was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth Beets of Littleton, Colo.; two daughters, Alma Stutes of Peoria and Donna Kalb of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He farmed near Ipava before moving to Elba Center in 1943, where he farmed for 41 years. An Elmwood resident since 1984, he was a member of Knox County Farm Bureau and was a former member of the Tri-County Flying Club near Yates City.
Services were held Saturday at Patterson Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Reiner officiating. Burial was in Yates City Cemetery in Yates City.
