MINNIE (SMYERS) BRIDGEWATER

Minnie Bridgewater

Minnie Bridgewater, 77, of Rushville, died at 10:45 p.m. Friday, March 10, 1995, at the Snyder Vaughn Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

She was born July 11, 1917 in Brown Co., a daughter of David E. and Alta May Thompson Smyers. She married Robert E. Bridgewater Nov. 20, 1935 in Brown Co. He died Nov. 18, 1974.

Surviving are two daughters, Marilyn Hance of Lewistown and Carol Peterman of Astoria; three sons, Billy Bridgewater of Havelock, N. Car., Richard Bridgewater of Normal, and Roger Bridgewater of St. Louis, Mo.; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lottie Clayton of Taylorville, Catherine Hendricks of Ripley, Betty Vermillion of Mt. Sterling.

She was preceded in death by one step-grandson; two brothers, Lorne Bridgewater and Bill Bridgewater; and two sisters, Garnet Bridgewater and Beulah Schrodt.

She was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, R.S.V.P. and was a volunteer at the HELP Center and Schuyler Senior Center. She was a cook at the Fey School near Sugar Grove, later working at the Hill Convalescent Center and Schuyler Counseling and Health Services, retiring in 1993.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. William Hesseldenz officiating. Burial was in the Ripley Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church or Schuyler-Cass Hospice.
