Carl G. Bonnett Of Bushnell Dies

Carl G. Bonnett, 85, of 5 Lakeview Drive, Bushnell, died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, May 13, 1990, at Davier Health Care Center in LaHarpe.

He was born May 5, 1905, in Fulton County, a son of Frank and Polly Bonnett. He married Lucy Cadwalader on Feb. 21, 1925, in Marietta. She died Sept. 4, 1984. He married Mildred Wilson on Oct. 12, 1985, in Bushnell. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, John Bonnett of Inverness; one daughter, Mrs. Nellie Jo Hasselbring of Osage Beach, Mo.; four stepsons, Jerry Wilson and Dan Wilson, both of Bushnell, Boyd Wilson of Lincoln, and Bert Wilson of Geneseo; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Jo Anne Perry of North Henderson; a cousin, Wilma Ball of Fort Collins, Colo., whom he reared; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

He was a grain and livestock farmer in the Walnut Grove area before retiring in 1966. He also had owned and operated Bonnett Feed and Grain Co. in Bushnell since 1955, and was a member of both the LaMoine Valley and Illinois Angus Associations.

He also was a member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge in Bushnell and the Rolling Rivers Camping Club.

Mr. Bonnett’s first wife, Lucy, wrote a column for several area newspapers, including The Argus, for many years prior to her death.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. this morning at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell with Rev. James Weiss and Rev. Peggy Richards officiating. Burial will be in Bushnell Cemetery.
