Mrs. Ruth Baker, 84, of Canton, died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 1985, in Medical Care Facility at Fremont, Mich. She had resided with Mrs. F. Arnold (Mildred) Woodring in Freemont, the past year.
She was born Oct. 14, 1900, in Ray, the daughter of Thomas Henry and Alice (Montooth) VanOrder. She married John Elgin Baker June 25, 1930, in Chicago. He died Dec. 29, 1959.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
She was a school teacher for a number of years in this area. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and its B.Y.K. Sunday School Class, Emma Hindman Circle and United Methodist Women’s Club. She was also a member of Canton Women’s Club and Business and Professional Women’s Club.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Delmar Smith officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
