Mrs. Hazel M. Barr, 89, of 1902 22nd Ave., Sterling, died at her home Sunday afternoon, Mar. 17, 1985.
She was born June 29, 1895, in Stephenson County, a daughter of John and Phoebe Strong Reeder. On Jan. 15, 1913, she was married to Rev. Leslie Barr. He preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 1953, while serving as pastor of the United Brethren Church in Astoria.
The couple had pastored United Brethren churches in Maysville, Warren, Polo, Canton, Westfield, Potomac, Peoria, Sterling, Olney, Danville and Astoria. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Sterling.
Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Kermit (Ethel) Starns, with whom she made her home; one granddaughter and two great-granddaughters; and three sisters, Mrs. Orle (Ada) Wilson and Mrs. Thomas (Myrtle) Kerkhoff, both of Freeport, and Mrs. Harold (Viola) Pfund of Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two grandsons and three sisters.
Funeral services were to be held at 10 a.m. this morning at Trinity United Methodist Church, Sterling. A committal service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Parkview Cemetery, Peoria.
