Martin Beck, Well Known Retired Farmer, Dies

Martin Beck, who would have observed his 70th birthday Monday, died at 1:30 in his home west of Astoria where he was born and had lived his entire life.

Mr. Beck, who had engaged in farming his entire life, had been in failing health for the past year.

Born March 7, 1885, a son of the Rev. Jonas and Margaret (Weber) Beck, he was was married 49 years ago to Annie Ellen Bricker, who died April 23, 1953.

He was a member of the Astoria Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mary Sullivan of Astoria and two grandchildren. A sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Shawgo Memorial Home, the Rev. Paul C. Lantis officiating. Interment in Woodland cemetery.
