HANNAH MARGARET (TOLEN) BEGHTOL

Aged Lady Died Suddenly Early Sunday Morning

Mrs. Margaret Beghtol, aged 86 years, six months and twenty-seven days, departed this life suddenly, Sunday morning, October 26, from a heart attack, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John G. Danner in the northeast part of town.

For the past four weeks, Mrs. Beghtol had been staying with her daughter because her son, Alva, who resided with her in their home in the south part of town, had employment which took him away each day, and although she had been in fairly good health, it was not thought best for her to be left alone.

On Sunday morning she complained of not feeling well, but ate breakfast as usual, and had stepped onto the back porch at her daughter’s home, when she was suddenly stricken and sank to the floor before they reached her, passing away almost immediately.

Hannah Margaret Tolen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Tolen was born in McDonough county, Ill., March 29, 1844. She was united in marriage to Marion Beghtol in the year 1866 and to this union five children were born: Mrs. John Danner of Astoria; Henry Beghtol of Colchester; Edward Beghtol of Springfield; Alvin Beghtol at home and Mrs. Alice Brown of Chicago.

She was converted in her young womanhood and united with the United Brethren Church of Astoria of which she was an honored member when death called her to the great beyond. Her husband was called in death about twelve years ago.

She leaves to mourn her departure the above named children; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the U. B. church, Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. R. Seitzinger, assisted by Rev. F. E. Blimline of Argenta, Ill., and interment was made in the Astoria cemetery.
