ROSE ANN (ELEY) BLOOMFIELD

Rites For Mrs. R. L. Bloomfield Held

Rose Ann Eley, daughter of Martin and Sarah Ann Eley, was born in Woodland township, Fulton county, Illinois, December 19, 1857, and passed away at her home in Astoria April 22, 1930, aged 72 years, 4 months and 3 days.

She was married to R. L. Bloomfield February 15, 1877. To this union were born four daughters and two sons, namely: Mrs. Gertrude Cooper, Astoria, Arthur D. Bloomfield, Ashland, Ill., Mrs. Lena Stephens, Woodland township, Mrs. Mildred Shaw, Bluff City, Ill., Mrs. Nora Blemler and Otis A. Bloomfield of Astoria.

Besides her sorrowing aged husband, she is survived by all the above named children and also by twenty-six(?) grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She leaves also to mourn her departure, three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Candace Blue and Mrs. Eva Peek of Astoria, Mrs. Emma Falkenstein of Colchester, Ill., and Ben Eley of Macomb, the only brother, all attending the funeral Thursday.

She united with the Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist church in 1895 and remained ardent and devoted to the faith of this church to the day of her death.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, conducted by Elder A. J. Conlee of Roodhouse, Ill., assisted by C. E. Hughes of Kilbourne, Ill.

Astoria Lady Dies Following Long Illness

Mrs. R. L. Bloomfield died at her home at six o’clock Monday morning, following an illness of many months duration. She suffered several paralytic strokes and as a result has been an invalid for a long time.

Mrs. Bloomfield was aged 71. Her maiden name was Rose Ely. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Arthur Bloomfield, of Middlebury; Otis Bloomfield, Mrs. Harry Blemler, Mrs. F. A. Cooper and Mrs. James Stephens, all of Astoria and Mrs. Frank Shaw of Bluff City. Also the following brothers and sisters: Ben Ely, Macomb; Mrs. Mike Falkenstein, Colchester; Mrs. Eva Peek and Mrs. Candace Blue of Astoria.

Funeral services will be held at the residence Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock. Burial Astoria cemetery.
