Ellis Brooks for many years a leading bandmaster of the country, died last week in Blessing hospital, Quincy, where he went a week ago for an operation. He came two years ago to take the direction of the Illinois State band. He was married, his wife being at present in California. Mr. Brooks was 72 years old.
