R. O. Baird’s Father Dies At Colchester

Richard Oswald Baird, father of Photographer R. O. Baird, died Monday of last week at his home in Colchester in his seventy-ninth year.

Deceased was born in Northcumberland, England, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Isabelle Temple at the St. Johns Church, New Castle-on-Tyne, Northcumberland. Shortly after his marriage he, with his wife, came to this country, first locating in Pennsylvania. From Pennsylvania they came to Illinois, returning to Pennsylvania in a short time, where they resided for a few years, when they again returned to Illinois, settling on a farm about half-way between Macomb and Fandon. After a few years residence on the farm they moved to Colchester, where he has since resided. His wife died Nov. 12, 1913.

Thirteen children were born to this union, five of them dying in infancy. He is survived by the following children: Richard Oswald, Jr., of Astoria, Ill., James A. of Los Angeles, Calif., Mayor George H. Baird of Rushville, John T., Thomas Taylor and Mrs. Mary Alters, all of Colchester.
