VERMONT — Mrs. Sarah Bates, wife of William Bates, a former resident of Canton, died at three o’clock Thursday, at her home in Vermont, from the effects of an attack of paralysis. She was 63 years of age and was born in Canton, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Sweeny. The husband and eight children live in Vermont, and also one brother, Charles. Three sisters live in Canton, Mrs. John Lally, Miss Catherine Sweeny and Mrs. Robert Daugherty. The body was taken to Canton Saturday afternoon, and the funeral held at St. Mary’s church.
