John Beam

BADERS — John George Beam, was born in Hesse Castle, Germany, November 30th, 1832, and departed this life August 26th, 1902, aged 69 years, 18 months and 27 days. He came to this country in 1852, living in the state of Maryland for about 5 years, then coming to Illinois. He resided in Fulton county until the spring of 1878 when he moved to the house in Schuyler county where he lived until death called and took him away. On November 8th, 1860, he was married to Harriet Litchfield and this union was blessed with 10 children, 7 of whom, with the mother, survive to mourn his loss. He united with the Christian Church at this place about 10 years ago, and was held in good fellowship until death. He has held many township offices and in him Schuyler county loses one of her most respected and time-honored citizens. Funeral services were conducted from the late residence at 1:30 and at the Christian church at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 28th, the Rev. J. W. Carpenter, of Astoria, officiating. The pallbearers were: G. W. Ware, Joseph Jackson, W. R. Weddie, G. R. Shultz, Benj. Walton and John Weishaar. Interment was made in the Bader's cemetery.
