FAYE VIRGINIA (MILBY) SHELTS AVERY

Faye AveryFaye V. Avery, 88, of Rushville died at 6:08 p.m. Nov. 24, 2015, at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mount Sterling.

She was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Rushville, a daughter of Lewis and Lela Shaver Milby. She first married Bernard Eugene Shelts on April 24, 1948. She later married Andrew Lafayette Avery on June 26, 1964. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1987.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Morris, Harold and Merle Milby; and two sisters, Christine Blair and Rosalie Fahnders.

Surviving are three children, Larry (and Brenda) Shelts of Camden and Sheila (and Donald) Teaney and David Avery, both of Mount Sterling; three sisters, Florence Edwards of Petersburg, Ramona (and Virgil) Henderson of Macomb and Joyce Goodwin of Pekin; one brother, Leslie (and Judy) Milby of Macomb; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She worked as a waitress at Ping’s Pantry and Deb and Di’s restaurants in Rushville. She also cleaned at Bartlow Brothers in Rushville after her shift at the restaurant.

She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Rushville.

Services were held Monday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor Stephen Bounds officiating. Burial was in the Rushville City Cemetery.
