Paul AllenPaul B. Allen, 100, of Lewistown died at 6:09 p.m. Sept. 16, 2013, at Clayberg Nursing Center in Cuba.

He was born Nov. 21, 1912, in rural Lewistown, a son of Fred D. and Laura Bordner Allen. He married Geraldine Randall on March 11, 1939, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Roberta (and Robert) Rakestraw of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice (and Allen) Mowery; three brothers; and one sister.

He was a retail merchant who owned and operated the Gamble Store in Lewistown for 51 years.

He was a member of Lewistown United Methodist Church and joined there in April of 1950; a 50-plus year member of Lewistown Lodge AF & AM 104 and Valley of Peoria Scottish Rite; past member of Kiwanis Club, Matanza Gun Duck Hunting Club, Lewistown Chamber of Commerce; past member and president of Lewistown Business Association, Lewistown Zoning Board, Spoon River Towers Board and Lewistown Sportsman Club in the 1940s and 50s.

In 1987, he and his wife were marshals for the Homecoming parade. On Jan. 13, 2009, he received a plaque from Lewistown City Council for a lifetime of service to City of Lewistown.

Services were held Friday at his church with Reverend Deryck Sonaram officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown was in charge of arrangements.
