Ted Artis

Ted ArtisTed Artis, 79, of Camden died at 7:44 p.m. Aug. 18, 2010, at his residence.

He was born April 9, 1931, in Camden Township, the son of Ray and Louise Estes Artis. He married Beatrice Clayton on March 24, 1951, in Camden Township. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Gale (and Kathy) Artis of Camden; one daughter: Dixie (and Jack) Kelly of Camden; one sister, Joyce (and Louis) Rebman of Camden; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Scott Kelly.

He graduated from Rushville High School in 1949 and from Vatterott College in Quincy in 1990 with a degree in heating and air conditioning.

He was a life-long Camden Township farmer and a Burris seed dealer for over 50 years. He also worked at Bohn Aluminum in Beardstown for 20 years.

Services were held Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Dixie Croxton and Rev. Charla Meyers officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or Central Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
