Joseph T. Ausmus, 84, of Cuba died at 7:02 a.m. June 13, 2007, at Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba.
He was born Jan. 19, 1923, in Peoria, a son of Joseph A. and Estella Berg Ausmus. He married Betty J. Perkhiser on June 9, 1945, in East Peoria. She survives.
Also surving are one son, Tom of Manito; one daughter, Betty Jo (and Alan) Martin of East Peoria; one brother, Kenneth Eugene of East Peoria; two sisters, Clara Marie Foster of Adaline and Margaret Goudy of Marietta; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
He owned and operated Joe’s Auto Body in East Peoria and worked at Keystone Steel & Wire Co., last working in 1962. He was in the C.C.C. in 1941.
Cremation was accorded. Graveside services were held Tuesday in Cuba Cemetery with Rev. Joe Tomich officiating. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba was in charge of arrangements.
